Minecraft Bedrock 26.60.29 - Ice Caves, Ice Crystals and Frostbite

Yay, the final update of 2026 is here! Minecraft Bedrock 26.60.29 has arrived bringing with it a new biome, a new type of zombie, as well as a new block and items. Keep in mind that this is just the beginning of the fourth drop, and soon we'll see even more features that the folks at Mojang talked about a couple of days ago on Minecraft Live.

The Ice Cave:

Previously, the cold climate in Bedrock Edition was limited to the surface, but now huge, fridgid caves are generated beneath the taiga and snow biomes. The walls and floor are made of solid ice and calcite - there's no dirt, granite, or lichen but there are patches of snow everywhere. Additionally ice in MCPE 26.60.29 now has new sound effects for footsteps and impacts. Yes its easier to find ore in ice caves - keep that in mind if you need more resources.

Ice Crystals:

Ice crystals have become a new natural light source in Bedrock 26.60.29. They resemble amethyst drusses but grow on the solid ice floor and, most importantly, you can walk on them and pick them up. When building, you can attach them to any face of a block in any direction.

Icicles:

• Ice stalactites hang from the cave ceilings and can grow up to five blocks in length.
• They only form in the dark and outside the Nether.
• When exposed to bright light from torches, the icicles snap off and fall.
• A falling icicle deals heavy damage

Frostbite (new zombie):

Winter Mountains and Frostbites have been added to the new ice caves (these are a new version of zombies covered in a crust of ice).

1. It can judge distance.
2. From a distance it throws ice projectiles.
3. Up close it strikes with its hands, applying a cold effect.
4. The mob does not sink in loose snow and does not take frost damage
5. If you force it into water for a long time, it wont thaw back into a regular zombie.

Ice Ball:

A new projectile in Minecraft Bedrock 1.26, used by the Frost Zombie. Upon impact, it deals up to four damage points depending on its flight speed and shatters into particles. If you knock it out of the zombie you can use it for brewing potions.

Freezing Effect:

A new negative effect that causes you to shiver (reducing jump height and draining health). Leather armor protects against freezing. Brewers can use snowballs to brew explosive and foggy cold potions, as well as fill cauldrons with them to create frost arrows.
