Let's remember the previous maps taking place in the overworld. These are fairly harmless levels where there is practically no danger of dying, only if you manage to somehow fall and break.
It works differently for the nether. You start the game in the original biome where there are more serious hazards in the form of soul fire. Be vigilant and do not touch it, otherwise you will experience two times the pain compared to simple fire.
