In addition to the material the furnace is made of, the Furnaces Plus Addon gives each subsequent furnace an increasingly faster smelting speed. The oak furnace has an identical smelting speed to the cobblestone one, but the blazing furnace is 50 times faster! At the same time, each new level reduces fuel consumption.
