Even diamond ore is not so interesting, because Power Gems PE mod adds about a dozen different new ores using which you can make a new special armor. So there are 8 ore types, each has unique features and can be found under the ground (oddly enough :) ).
But these ores are really different from the usual ones, because you will get different effects if you craft the armor using new types of ores. For example, if you put lapis lazuli armor, you can breathe underwater. Because of this, the Power Gems PE mod will allow you to wear the armor not only for protection but also for the unique characteristics.
Crafting recipes are almost entirely composed of new elements, so be prepared to spend a couple of hours searching for new ore. I advise you to install Burning torch mod, so you don't have to put torches on your way in mines. It's really useful to you, because a mine will become your native home.
