Distant Horizons Bedrock (Unlimited Chunks) for Minecraft 1.21

Now you can set the chunk limit in Minecraft Bedrock 1.21 yourself! Before you begin, it is important to note that although this method works on all versions of Bedrock, the example uses the most accessible version, but the same steps can be repeated on other platforms with minor differences.

How does it work on Android?

On Android, the maximum rendering distance is usually limited to 12 chunks (on weaker devices). On more powerful devices, it can be up to 28 chunks, and even with standard settings, the load is noticeable, so it is important to consider whether your phone can handle the selected value or not.

For weaker devices (Android and iOS), it is recommended not to exceed 50 chunks, while 100 and above are suitable for PCs and consoles with a good graphics card. As the rendering distance increases, the fog becomes almost invisible, so if you like this effect, you can manually increase the fog density.

Distant Horizons Bedrock uses its own fog files to make the effect softer and more realistic. However, if the rendering distance is too high, the fog may disappear almost completely.

Although the world seems to be loading endlessly, in normal gameplay (not in flight mode) everything works stably and already loaded areas do not need to be regenerated. The fog now only hides unrendered areas and looks denser.

Settings and file preparation:

It is also recommended to experiment with FOV, as the lower the value, the closer the camera is and the more the game visually resembles the Java version. You can even disable FOV effects for a more cinematic look, it's up to you.

To apply the modification, you will need any text editor.

1. On Android, open the Minecraft APK, and on Windows, open the game folder.
2. Then open the DHBROC archive, find the render/distance folder, go to Lods, and replace the original file with the modified one.
3. The path to the files varies on each platform, but the process is the same. Sometimes you will need a utility to unpack the resources. By the way, on Switch and iPhone, the path may differ, but the principle is the same.

Changing the rendering parameters:

You can set any value in the file. For example, if it is set to 100, you can increase it to 102, 104, 106, and so on, because there are no restrictions. The main thing is to know the capabilities of your video card.

Separate instructions are provided for other platforms. If you want to add volumetric fog, open the lots folder, copy all the fog files, and move them to the vanilla 1.21.190 directory (in RERPX). This prevents conflicts with other texture packs. You can also embed fog into your resource pack if you use it actively.

Additional improvements:

Several biomes have been changed in the behavior packs: more realistic trees have been added, vegetation density has been increased, and the shape of mountains and the location of ores have been changed. Caves now contain more minerals, and forests look more natural.

For these changes to take effect, you also need to copy the folders with the biome definitions and add them to your game. The final step is to sign and install the modified APK.

Use the optimization and auto-signing features. Please note that this APK can only be installed over another modified Minecraft Bedrock APK, not over the original. Now you can enjoy realistic draw distances and an updated atmosphere in the world of Minecraft Bedrock.
