Why do you think there are still no vertical slabs in Minecraft? They can be made with some manipulations, but they are not available as separate blocks. If you think this is a big omission, then take the Vertical Slabs Addon developed specifically for Minecraft Bedrock 1.21. 61 vertical slabs, recipes for each of them, and compatibility with textures make the addon a great game addition.
