So you only need two things: the redstone lamp itself and the dye that will dye it. Open inventory and place both items in the slots. After your lamp is ready and now emits light of a certain color.
According to the creator, the colored lamps glow even cooler if you have a shader preinstalled with realistic lighting. The latest of these is the Skynyrd Shader compatible with both release and beta.
